Historical Committee
Committee Description
The Historical Committee immerses delegates in defining moments from the past, where major decisions can change the social and global landscape. Delegates will take on the roles of historical figures working within the limits and viewpoints of the era to respond to shifting situations. Through discussion, negotiation and crisis management delegates must decide how their choices could reshape the events of history.
REBELLION OF ROME: THE FALL OF JULIUS CAESAR
On March 15th 44 BC, Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators who were scared that his increasing power would destroy the Roman Republic. Caesar's journey had changed Rome with military victories, political changes and the concentration of power. This caused a big split between the supporters of Caesar and the defenders of the Republic. Delegates get the one and only chance to decide the future of Rome: deal with the rising power of Caesar, handle the tensions between the Senate and the citizens and create partnerships and plans that could decide if Rome stays a Republic or ends up under the control of a ruler.
